Ron Chan, an educator for over 45 years, began his career as a special education teacher, became an assistant professor in teacher preparation for the past 30 years an education consultant. He has worked with moderately and severely handicapped and regular education students. He has taught graduate level courses and supervised student teachers in both regular and special education at California State Universities, Los Angeles and Dominguez Hills. He served as a Professional Development Consultant for the State of California's Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Program-BTSA, a statewide induction program.
As a national consultant, developer and lead trainer for Educational Testing Service, he contributed to the development, training validation, and revision of the California Teaching Performance Assessment-CTPA, Pathwise® product development and services based on "A Framework for Teaching” and "Keeping Learning On Track”-KLT (embedded ongoing assessment in instruction). Teaching assessment, school leadership, beginning teacher support, assessment for learning, teaching effectiveness, and student learning continue to be the focus of his work with numerous school districts, large and small, across the country.
